The hybrid campus
Digital transformation has for many years been a feature of higher education debate and foresight. Despite the rapid advances in digital delivery occasioned by the pandemic related lockdowns, students’ and staff members’ instincts for our campuses to offer an inherently social experience has reasserted itself, re-igniting the hybrid campus debate. What does the future on-campus as well as off-campus student experience look like and how does 'digital' impact on both? How should buildings be repurposed to provide different formal and informal learning spaces, and social spaces? What are the implications for the shape and nature of the academic and professional workforce? How will the transition to the campus of the future be financed? Our conference aims to take a 360 degree view of these issues, will be highly participative, with lots of opportunity to engage with speakers and other participants about their successes and challenges in devising hybrid campus development strategies.
